Jay Rothman: Composer
Jay has been a Composer at Audiobrain since 2007. He grew up in a small town called Ho-Ho-Kus in northern New Jersey where he was first inspired by The Beatles and Nirvana to learn to play guitar at the age of 13. He went to Washington University in St. Louis and received a BA in Music Composition in 2003. Following a few years of odd jobs in the film industry and being a truck driver, he enrolled at The New School’s Parsons School of Design to study Design and Technology. Studying graphic design, web design, film, and sound design, it was there that he received his MFA and met Michael Sweet, subsequently joining Audiobrain in the summer of 2007.
He has since been on a number of wondrous and extraordinary adventures. Things Jay likes: Radiohead, The Beatles, Animal Collective, Germany, mangos, ten dollar bills, Arvo Pärt, the harpsichord, the Ondes Martenot, Haruki Murakami, David Mitchell, Greenpoint, scotch, and those weird days when the whole city smells like maple syrup because of the flavoring R&D labs in New Jersey getting just the right wind currents.
